I always thought the same as to the limitations of getting captured, but WotO still has crystal magic and, although rune magic is not available, can access all the same spells via scrolls. But it also limits you in ways you can progress your character - not only with the fact that you will become warrior of the Order, but you will have a smaller overall learning points amount to spend. You can save on rune magic in the beginning as well and hit the 4th (I think) circle to use rain of fire rune before you go into lizardmen priests' tombs.Īll things considered, getting caught is pointless unless you want to skip the 1st chapter as fastest as you can. Always level magic missiles to the max before you start investing in your mana pool. It's really helpful to hit above 6th rank in magic missiles crystal as soon as you get it to use. The most efficient way (if you choose to join the Order or the mages) is to:ġ) do Don's quests without assaulting the Order's camp outside the swampĢ) go to the Town and do the power-struggle quest lineĪlso try to clear out as many monsters as it is possible to gather many points to use right away after you join the Mages. You can do minor quests at Don's camp and then get captured, but you still miss out a ♥♥♥♥-load of XP from 1st chapter's quests in Town. Fireball is pretty meh compared to missiles and freeze bolt is straighforward terrible (you can't hit frozen enemies), but it can help managing larger group of enemies when your magic missile isn't maxed out yet (on the other hand, why would you delay your magic missile progress for a sake of freeze bolt that helps only your missile isn't maxed out)ĭon's warriors are a typical heroes, also 1h+shield is much more powerful than fighting with 2h weapons.Īlso, if you get caught you miss out on LOTS of points that you will never be able to recover later on in the game, which makes things a lot more difficult if you play the game as intended on the highest difficulty. Order has the worst utility of all, it's a worse version of a paladin from G2.Ī mage requires careful mana management until a very end-game, but magic missiles mow down everything when they're maxed out. Staffs are the worst weapons, and scroll usage requires a lot of points invested into mana, making your melee even worse.
